I have been compiling notebooks of the various music composers that students must be familiar with and have them available for checking out. In each notebook is reading material on the composer as well as things to do; puzzles, coloring etc. [...]]]> A new addition to the studio lending library is the “Composer Listen & Learn” project. In each notebook is reading material on the composer as well as things to do; puzzles, coloring etc. There is also a CD with music from that composer to listen to while doing the other activities. If a notebook is checked out, I ask parents to please monitor and maybe even participate in this activity… you may find it quite interesting!

It’s the “Music Studio Store” and here’s how it works;  students will be paid $1.00 per hour (from me) for practicing… play money. In the studio “store” there will be items of all sorts to “buy” at all different prices. Students may roam through the store BEFORE or AFTER lessons to see what’s available for purchase. They will be paid at each lesson and will be in charge of managing their own money and saving it for the item they desire to purchase.

Parents; I WELCOME your input and your contributions. If there are things you DON’T want your child to buy, please feel free to roam the store WITH them and let them know. If each parent would donate just one item to the store, I would be ever so grateful. (Think Dollar Store!) -Kayla
